The public is invited to a special day honoring acclaimed Florida author Patrick D. Smith, voted “Greatest Living Floridian” by the Florida Historical Society.

Smith’s best known novel, A Land Remembered, was recently voted Best Florida Book for the eighth year by readers of Florida Monthly Magazine. Much of A Land Remembered is set in the 1800s in Florida’s prairies and scrub brush, which has been preserved in its natural state at Forever Florida.
Patrick Smith plans to be there to sign his nine books: The River is Home, The Beginning, Forever Island, Angel City, Allapattah, The Last Ride, In Search of the Russian Bear, The Seas That Mourn and A Land Remembered.
The keynote address, “How to Conserve Wildlife: The Allen Broussard Legacy,” will be by Dr. Rob Deblinger, Deputy Director, Massachusetts Division of Fisheries & Wildlife.
